We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Map Editor to join our dynamic team. As a Map Editor, you will play a crucial role in curating and maintaining accurate geographic data using OpenStreetMap. You will collaborate closely with our development and product teams to ensure our maps are up-to-date and meet the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit and update geographic data on OpenStreetMap to reflect current information accurately.
  • Validate and correct existing map features to ensure data integrity and consistency.
  • Utilize OSM editing tools and best practices to improve map coverage and detail.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand mapping requirements for various projects.
  • Research and integrate third-party data sources to enhance map accuracy and completeness.
  • Participate in community discussions and forums to stay updated on OSM developments and best practices.
  • Contribute to the development of automated tools and processes to streamline map editing workflows.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on edited data to maintain high data quality standards.
  • Document editing processes and maintain accurate records of changes made to OSM data.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Proficiency in using OpenStreetMap editing tools such as iD Editor, JOSM, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of geographic data concepts, including coordinate systems, projections, and metadata.
  • Experience in editing and contributing to OpenStreetMap or similar open-source mapping platforms.
  • Familiarity with GIS software and spatial analysis techniques is preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
